Dog Fails

Dogs are incredible pets, they are cute, loyal and easily pleased, however sometimes they just fail at being a dog.

I found a great clip of dog fails that is sure to make you laugh from failing at fetch, forgetting how to run and even getting stuck in a cat flap.

Don’t forget to comment your dogs funny fails.

Enjoy the clip.

Dog Fashion

Wondering what to wear? Your pooch may feel the same so why don’t we give them the choice that we have when it comes to fashion.

One teen did when she took her pup to prom in a matching dress certainly making sure she turned heads at her prom entrance.

After picking her prom dress eighteen year old Brenda wanted to involve her dog Sasha in her prom so with the left over fabric from her alterations she made a  matching dress.

Brenda got her dog Sasha 2 years ago and since then the pair have been inseparable so she knew that Sasha had to come to prom with her in a beautiful matching dress, which doesn’t seem that strange as recently  dog fashion has become far more popular.

With dog jacket becoming less fit for purpose and more stylish here are a few of my favourites.

From prom dresses to designer jackets its fair to say that our dogs are certainly spoiled when it comes to fashion.

Why do dogs make people happy?

r

As any dog lover will know even as soon as we see a dog we immediately feel a smile stretch across our face, but there is a reason that dogs make us so happy.

Dogs are loyal affectionate companion’s that rely on their owners care which is one reason we love them so much as they make us feel needed, I mean what would they do without their doting owners feeding and walking them everyday. They make us more responsible as we know that we need to put them first and make sure they are well looked after. Walking  them keeps us fit making dog owners happier through exercise and also more sociable as you often meet new people out walking their dogs but perhaps the most interesting way dogs make up happy is by the chemical effect on our brains when we spend time with one.

After petting a dog for only a few minutes we begin to feel more relaxed as we relive our stress our heart rate and blood pressure lowers, we then go through hormonal changes which makes the brain release oxytocin a feel good hormone which promotes happiness.

Spending time with dogs has been linked to a decrease in depression and anxiety in both children ad adults as  they increase our serotonin levels some research has shown that having a dog to bond with can actually be more effective than anti anxiety drugs. The effect that they have on our mood has also helped people with addictions control them as many addictions are linked to feeling empty or lonely and with a dog people no longer feel this way.

All these benefits that we experience as a result of having a furry friend is why we are always so happy to see them. how can we not be when they physically and mentally make us feel better.

Furry Arsonist

Labrador sets fire to owners house when left alone for an hour.

A Scottish couple left their 6 month old black Labrador Harris alone in the house for only an hour, and when they came home they were met with thick black smoke as their house was on fire.

The curious puppy had managed  to push a fruit basket on to the hob of the cooker and then turn it on, by the time the owners returned the smoke was so bad that Harris was found unconscious with his head in his water bowl. His owners were able to carry him outside where they phoned the fire brigade who swiftly put out the fire and  saved Harris’s life by giving him oxygen.

Harris was able to make a full recovery after some time in intensive care at his vets however he had caused over £1000 of damage to his home despite the fire being contained to the kitchen the rest of the house did sustain serious smoke damage meaning it was deemed unliveable for a few weeks.

His owners believe they are incredibly lucky that it wasn’t any worse and that they got home when they did as if Harris was left longer he would have died of smoke inhalation, they are still unsure of how he managed to knock over the basket and turn the cooker on but they will definitely make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Why ban Pit-bulls?

hulk-pit-bull-cachorro-noticia-crianca-04

Pit-bulls can be traced back to the 1800’s when bulldogs and terriers were cross bred for the agility of terriers with the strength of the bulldog they were  used for bull-baiting but as times changed these powerful dogs were then used for dog fighting which then became illegal and when it did they were branded as vicious.

These dogs were continually vilified through the media, puppy pits were being bred for illegal fighting these puppies were being brought up with no socialisation, no love or nurture they were being stripped of all the good qualities they had being left with only basic hunting instinct.

In present day 700 US cities have banned Pit-Bulls , many countries including Germany, Italy, France, Denmark, New Zealand and the UK. The breed was banned to stop illegal dog fighting, that and to lower dog attacks despite dog behaviourists stating “If trained correctly a pit-bull is only as likely to bite you as a Jack Russell.”

UK law also states that if your dog displays any qualities of the banned breed they can be ceased, even if you believe they are not a banned breed or if your dog has no history of violence and there has been no complaints made. You are not allowed to see your dog once it has been ceased and you will not get it back unless you can provide evidence that will stand up in court proving that your dog is not a banned breed.

In America dogs are taken away from owners everyday despite being loving and friendly companions, shelters are struggling to cope with the number of pit-bulls being handed in due to the terrible reputation the media has given them by demonising the breed many of these dogs then have to be euthanized after 30 days to reduce over crowding.

In recent news were the owners of HULK the 12 stone pit-bull as they let their dog lick and play with their toddler, the internet was horrified branding them bad parents with a killer dog, many saying it would only be a matter of time until he attacked their children. The family run a training company for pit-bulls, they utilise the protective instinct that they have and train them as guard dogs and then supply celebrities and high profile billionaires with the highly train dogs, but they insist that they trust HULK 100% with their children as they know that he is a well trained loving dog. HULK’s owners want to show that pit-bulls make great family dogs and the law should be reconsidered on the blanket bans over pit-bulls.

Pit-bulls have proven to be useful as not only guard dogs but therapy dogs for both children and adults, they are often used for people suffering with PTSD as they are so calming. They can also be used as water safety dogs as they are able to rescue people and they can be used for finding missing people and rescuing them and drug or explosive detection.

A whole breed has been banned due to the actions of humans who bred them to be brutal, many breeds are capable of serious damage if they attack yet they are not banned. Why should Pit-Bulls who are well behaved, well socialised loving family pets be penalised and taken away because of their breed. It is time that the law changed on banned breeds.
